The Church is the main element of the story. It came to be after "the player" was given an option not available in Deltarune normally; The option to build a church in Castle Town. The only information, after 30 years of development, that Castle Town has on the main three, is that the lightners had followed through with the order given to them to abandon all Darkworlds, and that The Former Prince had simply disappeared along with them, though, somehow, still having have brought darkners from different Darkworlds before all traces of him had been lost.The option to build a church was not the real issue, of course. It was that The Dealmaker had disappeared from the lightner's inventory.That is the great man The Church teaches millions about. He took over the building all alone, as no one else had "ownership" of it at the time.
Of course, he was, as the crazed madman we know him as, very impulsive with his development of an entirely new religion. He worked hard to earn powers unknown to Darknerkind, and he changed the world entirely.The previous Prophecy was "denied." It never happened. There had been left no more traces of any threats that could come Castle Town's way. There was no reason or rhyme, no explanation as to how or why. The great man simply did it to push out his new goal as a god. He made himself known in ways never seen before. He spread his name and his message.
All he demanded was that he'd be the most powerful, in exchange for every possible greatness cpming his followers' ways.
The Castle is a much, much funnier case! Queen and King did essentially what the great man did, but with The Castle! They enhanced it as far as it could possibly go, and after three decades, still continue to push until they can't push anymore, constantly looking for improvement - For the perfection The Church already achieved.And in the recent years, they seem to be seeking that perfection in the few fields The Church lacks in... Education and Healthcare.
While sure, The Church has teachings, has an entire infirmary, they are still behind on medical technology. The Castle not only claims to outdo them, but claims to outdo them so greatly that their level of technology may never be achieved.Their education is strict and classist. A Darkner is given a role based off their species and "purpose", and of course, years of lessons and labor demanded based off of the role they've been assigned from what The Castle claims to be from birth.Both leaders are as corrupt as one could be. Neglectful, envious and greedy. And they have not an ounce of shame.
But really, is the opposite extreme any better?
IS there a "better" ?...I think we know the answer.
